Torrie Wilson doesn’t believe wrestling fans should be comparing the Divas era to the women of WWE today.
WWE Hall of Famer Torrie Wilson recently sat down with WrestleZone Senior Editor Matt Black. When asked if she thinks the current generation of talent gives the proper respect to the women from the Divas era, Wilson said she’s not looking for them to respect her, but also believes you can’t compare these two very different eras.
“I mean… It’s hard for me to answer because I don’t — I’m not looking for them to respect me,” Torrie Wilson said. “I guess. “I think it gets hard to — It seems like a lot of people like to compare the generations. And you just can’t compare. It’s a totally different time.
“When I was there, it was like, we were kind of forging a new path, right? There was no path like there is now. People know what they are signing up for. They’re going to the training center for years before they come on TV, and that was not my experience. And you know, a lot of people like to talk s—. But they forget that the time was completely different.”
The difference the WWE Performance Center would have made to the Divas era
When asked if she believes her generation of talent would be treated and looked at differently today if the WWE Performance Center existed for them, Wilson believes that to be the case.
“Oh, for sure, yeah,” Torrie Wilson said.”But I mean, you got to also remember in my time, we were doing a lot of things on TV that you would just never see now. So, it’s just… It’s so hard to compare.”
