Naomi and her husband Jimmy Uso recently shared the emotional moment they learned she was pregnant.
After Naomi officially announced the news, What’s Your Story? With Steph McMahon released a bonus episode featuring the couple. In the episode, Naomi explained how she discovered her pregnancy while traveling for WWE.
“I found out Sunday (August 10) on the road. In my hotel room. had been feeling a little different, a little weird. Wanted to take a test to make sure and rule that out. Not thinking because it’s been a long journey with fertility issues that I’ve had. I really didn’t think it was possible.”
Naomi explained that many people don’t know the full picture of her medical history. She shared, “Earlier in our relationship, before I debuted as a Funkadactyl, I had an oophorectomy, which is the removal of my right ovary. In 2020, we went through another major surgery, which is a myomectomy, the removal of fibroids. I had tons, and big ones.”
Naomi revealed she underwent surgery in 2020 that was expected to last two hours but stretched to six. Jimmy Uso recalled feeling anxious during the long wait. Naomi explained that the surgery coincided with WWE’s Thunderdome era and her last match against Sasha Banks and Bayley.
She didn’t reveal the details to anyone at the time and simply disappeared from WWE television for six months. When asked why the operation took so long, Naomi revealed that doctors found it to be more complicated and severe than expected. “On top of being 37 and only having one ovary, we thought that, naturally, I couldn’t any more.”
Jimmy Uso says Naomi was worried she let fans down with pregnancy announcement
Jimmy Uso jokingly said he wasn’t proceeding with caution. He explained, “There was no reason to proceed because we had been informed… There is no way to know 100% for sure, but we had been advised that (we would need help).”
Naomi said she discovered the pregnancy on a Sunday, called Jimmy Uso immediately, as she felt stressed about breaking the news. “I found out Sunday, called him, had to go to work. Stressed about having to tell work because of where I am right now as the champion. Of all times.”
Jimmy Uso explained that Naomi felt like she was letting her fans down by stepping away during her pregnancy. “She isn’t going to say this, but she felt like she let all her fans down. She felt like there is a step back because she is cooking. Timing is everything. I want to let her fans know; she loves them and she thought about them right off the bat. Thought about WWE right off the bat because it’s a step away now.” [H/T: Fightful]
She admitted it’s a lot to take in, but expressed happiness and hope for a healthy journey and revealed that she is seven weeks pregnant.
