Jim Ross Hopes Chris Jericho Sticks With AEW Amid WWE Return Rumors

Jim Ross has weighed in on the rumors surrounding former AEW World Champion Chris Jericho‘s potential return to WWE.

Jericho, also known as “Le Champion,” seems to be enjoying his time away from All Elite Wrestling. He was recently spotted at an exclusive event in The Hamptons, having last competed at AEW Dynasty 2025. This event is where he lost the ROH World Championship to Bandido in a title-versus-mask match.

Chris Jericho has previously stated in an interview that he would be open to a WWE return under the right circumstances. A recent report claims that he “has made overtures to see whether WWE has interest in him” once his AEW contract expires.

Having been with AEW since its inception, Jericho has had numerous runs at the top, including being the promotion’s inaugural World Champion. According to Hall of Fame commentator Jim Ross, who addressed the rumors on his Grilling JR podcast, Jericho’s departure would be a significant loss for AEW.

Jim Ross believes Chris Jericho is returning to AEW

“I really want to believe he’s returning to AEW,” JR said. “He’s a really important piece of the puzzle. He’s good with ideas, he’s good at helping talents, and he can still work. With all his experience, he’s got great name identity, you can’t just replicate that overnight.”

Ross continued by expressing his hope that the former Jericho Appreciation Society main man sticks with AEW, noting that it would be a loss for the company if he decides to part ways.

“… I hope that he sticks with AEW,” Ross said. “It’s gonna depend a lot on the creative and what he expects from the company, and how the company can help him continue to build his legacy. It’d be a loss for AEW if Jericho decided to depart in my opinion. He’s just that valuable.”
