TNA iMPACT Results

We get a recap of last week’s singles match-up between Mustafa Ali and Brian Myers to set up a huge multi-person outing at TNA Bound For Glory and The Hardys tag team title defense against the Nemeth brothers.

Cedric Alexander & Leon Slater vs. The Rascalz

  • The finish of the match saw Slater plant Trey Miguel with a Swanton 450 for the win.

Winners: Cedric Alexander & Leon Slater

After the match, Myron Reed gets up from commentary to confront Leon Slater ahead of their match for the TNA X Division Championship at TNA Victory Road.

Grade: B+

A solid match to kick things off on TNA iMPACT. Cedric and Slater can go as a tag team. That being said, we all know how this is going to end: Cedric will turn against Slater to set up another match for the X Division Championship. As for the Rascalz, they may have their faith in Myron Reed for his match against Slater, but he isn’t winning tomorrow night.

Gia Miller is backstage with Frankie Kazarian and Jake Something. Kaz addresses his new-found alliance with Something. He hypes up tonight’s tag team match against Steve Maclin and Mr. Anderson. Frankie caps off the segment by mocking Anderson’s signature introduction.

We see Eric Young’s confrontation with Santino Marella from earlier today. EY wants Joe Hendry at Victory Road for costing him the match against Judas Icarus last week. Tom Hannifan notes tha the match is official for tomorrow night.

Jody Threat vs. Victoria Crawford

  • The finish of the match saw Crawford capitalize off of a distraction provided by a returning Tessa Blanchard to claim the win.

Winner: Victoria Crawford

Grade: Nil

This was all a setup for Tessa Blanchard’s return. Let’s see if this leads to a match against Jody Threat at TNA Victory Road tomorrow night.

Joe Hendry hypes up his match against Eric Young tomorrow night at TNA Victory Road. Hendry says he can’t understand EY’s obsession with conspiracy theories but he knows he needs to stop Young from causing further chaos for TNA Wrestling.

The System is backstage with a warning for Order 4 ahead of their huge multi-person match at TNA Bound For Glory. Moose calls out Mustafa Ali to leave Order 4 behind for their singles match at Victory Road because Moose intends to do the same.

Call Your Shot Gauntlet Battle Royale Qualifier

AJ Francis arrives to cut a pre-match promo. Francis gets in the ring and tells the women in the match he doesn’t hit ladies. Rosemary responds by misting his face, allowing the rest of the participants to throw him over the top rope.

  • The finish of the match saw Mance Warner eliminate Lei Ying Lee with a big boot for the win. He’ll enter the Call Your Shot Gauntlet at number 20.

Winner: Mance Warner

Grade: C+

The AJ Francis part was entertaining—rest of the match, not so much. For a go-home episode, tonight’s TNA iMPACT has been a miss so far.

Mike Santana’s road to TNA Bound For Glory

Santana got a video package for his TNA World Championship match against Trick Williams at Bound For Glory. Check out the video below:

Santino Marella is in the ring. The TNA Director of Authority calls The Hardys and Team 3D two of the greatest tag teams of all time. Marella tells the crowd to join him in welcoming Team 3D for their “final negotiation” with Matt and Jeff. Team 3D’s music hits and the crowd pops big time. Bubba and Devon enter the iMPACT! Zone.

Marella the introduces the Hardy Boys. Matt and Jeff arrive. The crowd starts chanting “this is awesome.” A lot of “TNA” chants as well. Marella asks Team 3D to go first. Devon grabs the mic and hands it over to Bubba. Ray gives the floor to the Hardys. Matt says it feels surreal to witness what fans consider two of the greatest tag teams of all time. Hardy calls Team 3D the most decorated tag team of all time.

Matt says the Hardys need to beat Team 3D to establish themselves as the greatest tag team of all time. Bubba talks about their illustrious history. Chants of “TLC” break out. Devon recalls his infamous hanging spot with Jeff before hilariously calling him an sob for doing the spot because Devon, as a fan pointed out, is scared of heights. Matt references his table dive spot with Bubba, who jokes how is Jeff Hardy alive after all the damage he’s put his body through over the years.

Jeff says only God knows how he’s still alive. Bubba says it’s nice to have a trip down memory lane but it’s all business at the end of the day. Matt puts forth a proposition: if they win, they’ll shake Team 3D’s hand and acknowledge them as the greatest tag team of all time. He tells them he wants Bubba and Devon to do the same if the Hardys win at BFG. Bubba says what’s in it for them. Matt says the Hardys will put their tag team titles on the line. Marella asks the crowd for their opinion: they want it to happen.

Bubba recalls their illustrious tag team tables match 25 years ago at MSG. He says Matt and Jeff walked out of the match winners that night, and that bothered them because the Dudleys are the innovators of the table match. The only way to do this, he says, is to collide for the TNA World Tag Team Championship in a tables match in 2025. Bubba tells Devon to rip off the contract because all they need is a handshake to make the match official.

We get a backstage segment featuring Order 4. Mustafa Ali says he’s tired of The System. The Great Hands hype up their match at Bound for Glory. Tasha Steelz mocks The System with Alisha Edwards’ catchphrase. Ali details the match stipulation for BFG: one man from each team starts until all are inside the ring. He says the winner of the match between him and Moose tomorrow night gets the advantage for their team. The System shows up and we get a face-to-face as the segment caps off.

Winners: Steve Maclin and Mr. Anderson

Overall Grade: C+

A largely forgettable episode of TNA iMPACT! Even the nostalgia ride with the Hardys and Team 3D couldn’t save the show from feeling underwhelming. That said, this writer expects the TNA–NXT brawl to pick up steam at Victory Road and No Mercy. Speaking of Victory Road, TNA appears to have dropped Masha Slamovich from the card in light of the abuse allegations. Fans can read more about that here.
