“Stone Cold” Steve Austin addresses his absence at WWE WrestleMania 40.
With WWE WrestleMania 40’s night two main event being contested under Bloodline Rules, outside figures were legally allowed to interfere in it. As such, names such as Jimmy Uso, Solo Sikoa, and The Rock involved themselves in an attempt to aid the defending Undisputed WWE Champion, Roman Reigns. Meanwhile, the likes of Jey Uso, John Cena, The Undertaker, and Seth Rollins tried to help the main event challenger, Cody Rhodes.
According to reports, WWE Hall of Famer “Stone Cold” Steve Austin was also tagged for a spot in the WrestleMania 40 match, which took place in April 2024. When it came time for it, though, Austin did not appear in any capacity.
While speaking with Insight With Chris Van Vliet, Austin reconfirmed that there were plans for him to take part in the grand event, but his schedule ultimately didn’t align with it.
“I had other things going on,” Austin said. “I remember when they pitched that to me, I said, dude, I got some things going on. Don’t see myself being there. That was way in advance. Was it pitched to me, or did they want me there? Yeah. But I wasn’t in a position to go.”
Was There Ever A Real Possibility?
When asked if there was ever a real possibility for him to attend WrestleMania 40 in Philadelphia, Austin replied affirmatively. His outside work, however, took priority in this case.
“There was a possibility that I could have been there had I chose to go there,” Austin said. “I had other sh*t going on. WWE is this multi-billion dollar corporation. I got a metal shop that we’re sitting in. So sometimes the multi-billion dollar company has an idea that the dude that has the metal shop [should make an appearance], it just don’t work. So it didn’t work. I’m over here in my metal shop. I like to do as much as I can with WWE when it works, when it works for them, when it works for me, and when it’s going to be fun. But in that and saying that not everything lines up on a timeline basis, I had other sh*t going on.”
Following his absence at WrestleMania 40, Austin made it up to fans by appearing on an ATV at WrestleMania 41 in Las Vegas. Unfortunately, the ride didn’t go exactly as planned.
