The Miz explains why stopping his WrestleMania 27 match due to his concussion would’ve been the worst possible outcome.
During his recent appearance on the INSIGHT with Chris Van Vliet podcast, The Miz looked back at suffering a concussion during his WWE Championship defence against John Cena at the main event of WrestleMania 27. He explained how Cena, The Rock, and referee Mike Chioda guided him throughout the contest after he got concussed.
“I remember Cena saying when he had me like this (in a fireman’s carry), ‘Just grab on to the ropes, kid, grab on to the ropes, we got you.'” The Miz began. “I remember (Mike) Chioda going (after The Rock hit Cena with the Rock Bottom), ‘Cover him, kid,’ and I’m just like, (as he crawls back into the ring) ‘Huh, what’s going on?’
“123, winning, and I remember Chioda telling, ‘Throw your title at The Rock.’ I’m like, ‘Yeah, okay.’ I remember The Rock coming in, ‘I got you, kid (as he starts punching him), don’t you worry, we got this.’ Then it was over, and I see stuff on the internet, and I was like, ‘I don’t remember that.’ I don’t remember being backstage, and me just being like (dazed), ‘Was it good?’ I don’t like seeing myself like that,” The Miz said.
The Miz Says Stopping The Match Would’ve Been A Mistake
Speaking further, The Miz shared that he was in good hands with John Cena, The Rock, and Mike Chioda guiding him. He said that they protected him throughout the match and that stopping the contest due to his concussion would’ve been the worst possible scenario.
“But some people are like, ‘What would you have done if they stopped the match?’ That would’ve been the worst possible scenario if someone were to stop that match. I was in good hands, and I trusted the two people in there, and I will always trust them, and always be thankful for them. All three of them, The Rock, Cena, and Chioda as well. They all protected me, they all looked at me, and they all allowed me to do what I needed to do to make that whole situation a success,” The Miz said.
