WWE’s Dominik Mysterio is the AEW Champion?
During AAA’s debut show on FOX in Mexico on January 17, WWE’s Dominik Mysterio appeared in a short video package, boasting about what he has done for the promotion. It was a comic-book-style animated video, and it was evident that it was AI-generated.
When paused at the 1:02 mark, fans can see Dominik Mysterio standing on the turnbuckles holding the WWE Intercontinental and AAA Mega Championships. However, fans were quick to notice that an AI screw-up led to the AAA Mega title belt displaying the AEW logo right in the middle.
Clearly, those who put together the video didn’t review it properly before airing it. In their defence, the botch is hard to notice as it happens within a split second, but unfortunately for them, it was not quick enough to escape some eagle-eyed fans. AAA has also not taken the video down from its X/Twitter account.
Fans were quick to call out WWE over the botch
WWE faced criticism from fans back in October when reports noted that the company is planning to integrate artificial intelligence into its creative process. Now, the AAA screw-up has caused a new wave of fan backlash, with many taking shots at WWE over the use of AI.
“Y’all are part of a billion dollar company, but still use AI for promo videos. And it backfired, this is beyond embarrassing,” one fan noted.
“Maybe stop using AI and advertising your competitors belts?,” another fan said.
Dominik Mysterio has been out of action since sustaining a shoulder injury at AAA Guerra de Titanes last month. Although it was initially speculated that he would require surgery, recent reports indicate that this is not the case, and that the internal belief in WWE is that Dirty Dom could return by the week of the Royal Rumble.
