Triple H Believes This Is Why Fans Hated John Cena’s Last Match

Triple H reflects on the finish of John Cena‘s final WWE match at Saturday Night’s Main Event.

WWE Chief Content Officer Triple H was a recent guest on ESPN’s Get Up to promote this weekend’s Royal Rumble event. While hyping this weekend’s match between Gunther and AJ Styles, Hunter touched upon Gunther ending John Cena’s career last year and why he believes that fans hated the finish.

“Yeah, John Cena retiring at the hands of Gunther, and not only retiring, but Gunther made him do the one thing John said he would never do, which is he made him quit, he made him tap out. A lot of people took that badly,” Triple H said. “Gunther’s been bragging about it. AJ Styles took that as disrespect, and Styles put his own career on the line if he cannot beat Gunther this Saturday at the Royal Rumble. So the stakes could not be any bigger. AJ Styles’ legendary career on the line if he loses, that’s it.” [H/T: Fightful]

WrestleZone will have live coverage of the WWE Royal Rumble event later this weekend.
