JBL says a WWE Hall of Famer ran in “like a freaking avenger” to save him from a bar fight in Canada.
Speaking to the Undertaker and Michelle McCool on the Six Feet Under podcast, JBL revealed that he once got into a fight in the corner of a bar in Canada. He recalled a bunch of men pulling knives on him and backing him against a wall. The former WWE Champion noted that he thought he was going to die until he saw his APA partner, Ron Simmons, running in toward the fight “like a freaking avenger,” from the other side of a bar, grabbing a beer bottle on the way.
JBL recalled Ron Simmons cutting a promo on the other guys, saying the entire situation was like an APA skit.
“I thought, shit, I’m gonna die in Canada, of all places,” JBL said. “He cuts a promo, to this day, the greatest promo I’ve ever heard in my life. And he ends it with, ‘I’m gonna hit the first white motherfu*ker that moves.’ I’m the only white motherfu*ker,” JBL said. “And I thought, why would he hit me? I’m trying to debate this. And Ron looks around. He goes, ‘Not you.’ It was like an APA skit. ‘Not you.’
JBL says the other guys dropped the fight after hearing Ron Simmons’ promo
Speaking further, JBL shared that the guys with the knives looked at them and decided to drop the fight, saying, “These guys are crazy.” He then hailed Simmons’ promo work, saying no one can match up to him on the mic. He also revealed that he refuses to do any appearances without his APA partner.
“These guys look at us like, ‘These guys are crazy. They’re nuts. Just get them out of here.’ So we got out of there.
“Ron in a promo, you didn’t want to follow him with anything. He was too good. People call me, say, ‘You want to do an appearance?’ No, I’m not gonna get on a plane. ‘Ron’s there.’ Okay, all right, yeah, go,” JBL said. [H/T WrestlingNews.co]
