Cody Rhodes recently reacted to the ongoing chaos around him on WWE SmackDown, and his message grabbed attention quickly.
Last week on SmackDown, Pat McAfee made his return to WWE TV after months away. He aligned himself with Randy Orton and went straight after Rhodes. The storyline quickly turned personal. McAfee claimed WWE has not been good lately, blaming both creative and business issues on Rhodes being the face of the company.
McAfee even mentioned falling WrestleMania ticket sales. He also brought up poor SmackDown ratings, which added more heat to the situation as it felt more like a worked shoot promo.
Rhodes did not stay silent for long. He came back later in the show and fired back. His message was short but very direct. He told McAfee and everyone backing him to kiss his ass.
Cody Rhodes reacts amid backstage chaos and TKO rumors
Reports later revealed something interesting about the segment. McAfee’s involvement was not part of the usual creative plans. Instead, it may have come from higher up. From TKO Group Holdings leadership, possibly involving Ari Emanuel.
There was more to it, as Rhodes’ promo itself was reportedly not planned either. It was not listed on the internal rundown for the show. Some backstage believed he was shooting during that segment, which made the situation even more interesting.
Now, with tensions rising in the storyline, Rhodes shared another message online. On X, formerly known as Twitter, he shared a GIF of Jon Snow from Game of Thrones’ iconic episode, “Battle of the Bastards.” The GIF shows the iconic moment of Jon Snow drawing his sword as he gets ready to face Ramsay Bolton’s army.
It appears that Cody Rhodes’ message makes it clear that he isn’t backing down, especially with TKO now involved in his WrestleMania 42 storyline.
