TNA Star Says ‘Medical Mystery’ Led To Brief In-Ring Retirement

A former TNA Knockouts Champion says her brief in-ring retirement was due to a “medical mystery.”

During her recent appearance on the Generation of Wrestling Podcast to promote TNA’s upcoming Rebellion event, Ash by Elegance (FKA Dana Brooke in WWE) opened up about what led to her brief retirement from in-ring competition. She announced her retirement at Victory Road 2025 and vacated the Knockouts Title. However, she returned to the ring in January 2026 after getting cleared.

In the interview, Ash by Elegance revealed that she’s still dealing with some health issues. She explained that while she doesn’t look sick, her condition is a bit tricky and unpredictable, saying that it’s a “medical mystery.” The TNA star further stated that what forced her into retirement has trickled into her current condition, and that she’s yet to receive a full diagnosis.

“I’m still going through it, which is crazy. You don’t have to have an injury. What I’m going through is a health issue. A lot of people, especially in my situation, I don’t look sick. I feel good today, but tomorrow might not. So, it’s definitely a health issue.

“My issue is weird. They call it like a medical mystery. I’ve done so many things, I spent numerous days in the ICU that nobody really knows about because I haven’t put that out there yet until I honestly can find out really what this is. We’re on a good track now,” the TNA star said.

“In the beginning, what had happened that kind of forced me into retirement has trickled now into this, and it’s kind of all adding up to being this one diagnosis. I’m just not going to say it yet until it’s really out there.”

The TNA star says wrestling is what keeps her going

Speaking further, the former TNA Knockouts Champion stated that while she’s good to compete, she faces some issues occasionally. Elegance also revealed that she will be undergoing further tests next week and hopes to get a proper diagnosis.

Ash by Elegance added, “I’m good to wrestle, it’s just sometimes it’s difficult because my body kind of goes a little wonky.”

In another interview with BCP+, the TNA star noted that her health has been shaky over the past few weeks, but says she’s determined and motivated, as wrestling keeps her going.

“The last couple weeks have been a little shaky with me and my health. With that being said, I am more than determined, more than motivated. and wrestling is what keeps me going.”

“It’s unfortunate that I have to say it is health issues that I’m going through and once I have the proper diagnosis and everything, I am going to come out and share my story with everything that has been going on, because I am a very open and honest person,” the TNA star said [H/T F4WOnline]

Ash by Elegance will team up with her Elegance Brand partners, Heather by Elegance and M by Elegance, to take on Mickie James, ODB, and Taryn Terrell in a six-woman Hardcore Country tag team match at TNA Rebellion this Saturday.
