AJ Styles Reveals Incredible Gift From The Undertaker After WWE Boneyard Match

AJ Styles says one of his most prized possessions originated from his match with The Undertaker.

After collecting souls for nearly 30 years, The Undertaker retired from in-ring competition in 2020. The Phenom’s swan song came against AJ Styles at WWE WrestleMania 36.

With the world in lockdown due to the pandemic, WWE took a unique approach to the match, giving it a cinematic feel. The Boneyard Match served as the main event of WrestleMania 36: Part 1.

For the match, The Undertaker brought back his American Badass persona. The cinematic bout also featured Luke Gallows and Karl Anderson as Styles’ outside support, but the outcome ultimately favored The Deadman.

AJ Styles reveals gift he received from The Undertaker after WWE match

Appearing on The Phenomenally Retro Podcast, AJ Styles recalled a conversation he had with Michelle McCool after the WrestleMania 36 match.

According to the former WWE Champion, McCool suggested he gift The Undertaker his signed gloves.

“All right, so this one was a big deal to me. After my match with The Undertaker, I asked Michelle, ‘What can I get him for having that match with me?’

“She said, ‘Just sign your gloves, because he would appreciate that more than anything.’

“So I signed my gloves. I said, ‘Man, thank you so much,’ and I gave him my gloves.

“About a month later, his gloves came in the mail. I mean, it’s just… rest in peace. It’s pretty awesome.

“So I have his gloves from his last match. It was really special that he did that. He definitely didn’t have to do that, but it’s one of my most prized possessions,” Styles said.

AJ Styles officially retired from in-ring competition at WWE Royal Rumble 2026. The Phenomenal One has since transitioned into a new role.
