Megan Bayne Breaks Silence on Penelope Ford’s AEW Dynamite Injury

Megan Bayne has finally addressed Penelope Ford’s injury following the February 25 episode of AEW Dynamite, offering insight into the situation while leaving questions about what comes next for their alliance.

The AEW Women’s Tag Team Champion spoke during an April 7 appearance on AEW Close Up, where the conversation turned to Ford’s absence — and how it has shifted the landscape around Bayne’s dominant run.

Penelope Ford suffered a sprained ankle during a tag team match when an Orihara moonsault attempt led to an awkward landing.

Although early concern suggested something more serious, medical evaluation confirmed the injury as a sprain. Still, the setback has kept her sidelined, with AEW President Tony Khan previously noting recovery could take weeks or even months.

Bayne didn’t hide her frustration but kept her focus clear. “Obviously this current situation to me is a huge change and it’s very upsetting,” she said, before acknowledging the risks that come with the business. “This sport comes with a lot of risk and you can’t always avoid injury.”

The absence is notable given how closely the two had been aligned. Bayne pointed out that since her full-time debut, Ford had been by her side, making this sudden break feel like a tag team forced into a temporary handicap match.

Despite that, Bayne made it clear there’s no time to tap out. “At the moment, her focus needs to be on recovery. My focus will be on keeping the rest of the roster in line,” she explained.

That statement reflects her current position as part of Divine Dominion alongside Lena Kross, a duo that has bulldozed through the division since capturing the titles at AEW Revolution. With Ford out, Bayne appears ready to carry the weight — and perhaps deliver a few “Bayne-ful” reminders of her dominance along the way.

For now, Ford’s return timeline remains uncertain. Meanwhile, Bayne continues forward, ensuring the division stays under her control until her partner can rejoin the fight.
