AEW TNT Championship Vacated Due To Kyle Fletcher Injury

A major shake-up has hit AEW’s mid-card title picture ahead of Dynamite. An unexpected development involving Kyle Fletcher has forced the company’s hand.

AEW President Tony Khan confirmed during a pre-show livestream on X that Fletcher will no longer continue as TNT Champion due to injury. This key decision immediately changes the landscape heading into AEW Dynasty.

Tony Khan revealed that Fletcher is dealing with a meniscus injury along with other physical issues. He could spend significant time away from the squared circle on the sidelines.

While there is optimism he will return later in 2026, the reigning champion has been forced to relinquish the title — a tough break in what had been a strong run.

Khan described Fletcher as one of the “greatest TNT Champions of all time.” The AEW President noted the situation left no room for a title defense. In wrestling terms, the champion didn’t tap out — but time forced a stoppage.

The injury traces back to the March 28 episode of AEW Collision, where Fletcher teamed with Mark Davis against The Rascalz. Reports suggest he sustained the injury during that match and was later seen favoring his leg.

With the title now vacant, AEW has moved quickly to crown a new champion. A Casino Gauntlet match is set for AEW Dynasty in Vancouver this Sunday. This frenzied matchup offers a high-stakes, anything-can-happen scenario — the kind where fortunes can change faster than a surprise roll-up.

To determine the number one entrant in that match, Tommaso Ciampa will face Mascara Dorada on the April 8 episode of Dynamite. The winner gains a key advantage in a bout where timing could dictate the outcome.

Fletcher’s absence leaves a noticeable gap. However, it also opens the door for a new champion to step up when AEW heads into Dynasty weekend.
