Tony Khan Reacts to WWE Counterprogramming During AEW All In Weekend

AEW President Tony Khan has reacted to WWE’s latest scheduling move. WWE announced two events during AEW All In weekend. The move continues recent counter-programming against AEW’s biggest shows.

WWE announced NXT Heatwave during Sunday’s The Great American Bash broadcast, which aired while AEW x NJPW Forbidden Door was airing. It was also announced that the AAA show is also scheduled earlier on the same day as AEW All In.

WWE’s recent scheduling strategy continues to counter AEW shows. However, Khan did not seem too bothered by it.

Tony Khan reacts to WWE’s latest counter-programming plans

Speaking during the AEW x NJPW Forbidden Door media scrum, Tony Khan addressed WWE’s latest move and joked that he saw it as a compliment.

“It’s double the compliment Jimmy Crockett got [laughs]. Twice as nice as they were to Jimmy. I’ll be sure to take it that way. We’re going to have a great All In.”

“It’s going to be a great night for AEW. I can’t speak to what the other promotions are doing, but I did see that announcement. I saw that with our show going on tonight, so not a lot I can do other than hope we have a very good show and plan and prepare that we will have a good show for All In,” he said. [H/T: Fightful]

Both companies also delivered major moments this weekend. AEW x NJPW Forbidden Door ended with Will Ospreay beating Swerve Strickland in the finals of Owen Hart Tournament. Meanwhile, The Great American Bash crowned a new champion. Kendal Grey defeated Lola Vice for the NXT Women’s Championship.
