Chris Jericho Revives Fan-Favorite WWE Gimmick on AEW Dynamite

Chris Jericho’s return to AEW Dynamite on April 8 carried more than just a contract signing — it brought back a familiar twist that longtime fans didn’t see coming right away.

The segment, held in Edmonton, unfolded as Jericho addressed his future in AEW. However, it quickly shifted gears once an interruption changed the tone — and the nostalgia dial.

Chris Jericho brings back ‘List of Jericho’ on AEW Dynamite

Jericho took to the ring to officially sign a new AEW contract. He reflected on his career and his role in building the company.

He stressed that while not every risk has paid off, his focus remains on contributing to AEW’s growth. This is a message that kept things grounded before the segment took a sharper turn.

That turn came when Ricochet interrupted. He questioned Jericho’s return and suggested he step away rather than step back into the ring. The verbal exchange escalated, with Jericho brushing off the criticism and proceeding to sign his contract.

However, the defining moment came after the signing. Jericho revealed a clause allowing him to choose his opponent for AEW Dynasty. He teased several possibilities before shifting his attention back to Ricochet.

Then came the callback that hit like a perfectly timed finisher. Jericho pulled out a clipboard, clicked his pen, and declared, “You just made the list.”

The return of the “List of Jericho” instantly echoed his popular 2016–2017 run, where the phrase became a staple of his character in WWE. Much like a surprise roll-up, it caught the moment off guard and flipped the energy in the arena.

Originally introduced as a list of grievances against authority figures like Mick Foley, it quickly evolved into a recurring gag where Jericho added anyone he deemed a “stupid idiot.”

The gimmick gained major traction during his partnership with Kevin Owens, with names ranging from The New Day to AJ Styles — and even fans — making the list. It reached its peak during the “Festival of Friendship” segment in 2017, when Owens turned on Jericho using a list of his own.

Back in AEW, the list made an immediate impact again — this time placing Ricochet front and center, as Jericho confirmed their match for Dynasty on April 12 in Vancouver.
