Swerve Strickland Involved in Warner Bros. Discovery Project Amid Aew Absence — Report

The reason behind Swerve Strickland’s recent absence from AEW might be due to Warner Bros. Discovery. Even though he wasn’t injured and gained some good momentum earlier this year, he suddenly disappeared from TV after a big loss.

Strickland’s last match was on March 25, 2026, episode of Dynamite, where he faced Kenny Omega in a number one contender’s match. It was a high-stakes match. Strickland put his future title shot on the line, while Omega risked his EVP role in the company.

Swerve Strickland lost the match, earning Omega a title match against MJF at Dynasty. Later, MJF successfully defended his AEW World Championship.

Strickland wasn’t part of the Dynasty event at all. Some reports say he was in Vancouver doing a fan signing on the same day. His absence from both the event and weekly shows concerned some fans until this new update came out.

Swerve Strickland filmed promotional material for Warner Bros. Discovery

Strickland has been busy with something outside of wrestling. According to Fightful Select, he has been working on a project with Warner Bros. Discovery. The exact details are still unknown, but this seems to be the main reason he hasn’t been on AEW shows.

The report mentions that he recently filmed some promotional content, but no one has revealed what it’s for yet. Since Warner Bros. Discovery owns networks like TNT and TBS, which air AEW shows, this could be a collaboration that benefits both sides.

Over the last couple of years, Strickland has cemented his status as a main-event talent with both microphone and in-ring skills. His work with Warner Bros. Discovery might be part of a bigger plan to push AEW stars into mainstream media.

Right now, there is no update on when he will return to AEW TV. But given his track record, it’s likely he will be back in the title scene soon.
