Glenn Jacobs Says He’s Living The ‘American Dream’ After WWE Career

For Glenn Jacobs, the journey from a struggling athlete to a WWE Hall of Fame member and Mayor has been incredible. Popularly known as Kane among WWE fans, he recently said his life feels like a real example of the American Dream.

Before becoming Kane in 1997, Jacobs tried many different characters like the Christmas Creature, Isaac Yankem, and Fake Diesel. He even had a short run in WCW, but nothing really worked at first.

Everything changed when WWE introduced Kane. The character became one of the most intimidating characters in wrestling history. Over the years, Jacobs built a long career filled with titles, big rivalries, and memorable moments. In 2021, he officially entered the WWE Hall of Fame.

After slowing down in wrestling, Jacobs moved into politics. In 2018, he became the Mayor of Knox County as a Republican and was reelected in 2022.

Glenn Jacobs reflects on his legendary WWE career

In a message he shared on X, Jacobs said he is proud of what he has achieved. He talked about how taking risks and grabbing opportunities helped him succeed.

“I found something I was good at, took a chance, and built a life I’m proud of. Today, I’m a @WWE Hall of Famer and the Mayor of Knox County in the best state in the union! I’m a product of the American Dream, and I’ll keep fighting to make sure that opportunity exists for everyone,” Jacobs tweeted.

While speaking on The George Plaster Show, Jacobs explained how unexpected his journey really was.

“I’ve had a wonderful life. I grew up on a farm in Missouri. My family didn’t really have a whole lot. I wanted to be a professional athlete ever since I was a little kid. I was horrible at baseball. I wanted to play for the Cardinals but that wasn’t going to happen, I can tell you that, when I was about 7 years old. So I was always tall so I started playing basketball, was pretty good at that. When I got to college, I started lifting weights, which I hadn’t done in high school because back then you were told to become muscle-bound, and the football coach recruited me to play football. It looked like I was going to play in the NFL. I had a very serious knee injury in practice one day, and that was really, for all intents and purposes, the end of my football career,” Jacobs said.

One day, while casually watching WWE with a friend, he took up an interest in wrestling. That decision changed his life.

“I just kind of fell into the wrestling thing. I was watching WWE with a friend of mine one night. And he said, ‘You should try that.’ And I thought to myself, ‘Yeah, I’m big like those guys are, good athlete. My degree is English, so I know about theater and drama and Shakespeare and all that stuff.’ So I figured I’d give it a shot. My life has been incredibly blessed because of that. And I’m a product of the American Dream. and I want to make sure that continues,” Jacobs added.
