WWE is moving forward with plans for Night of Champions on June 27 in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. Nevertheless, company leadership has made it clear that the situation remains under close watch.
Speaking during a TKO town hall (via POST Wrestling), Nick Khan addressed growing concerns. The surrounding geopolitical tensions in the Middle East came up as a topic of contention. His comments indicated that the event’s status is not set in stone.
WWE Night of Champions Saudi Arabia status under review
Khan stressed that safety will be the deciding factor. “We’re only going if it’s safe or if we’re allowed there,” he said, outlining WWE’s current stance as cautious rather than confirmed.
He added that the company is actively tracking developments through multiple channels. “We are monitoring with our heads of security internally and with our government affairs folks externally, the situation there. If U.S. citizens are allowed in at this moment in time, it is declared and deemed safe, we’ll all be going there.”
The approach signals that while Night of Champions remains scheduled, WWE is keeping one foot on the gas and the other near the brakes. This emerges as a careful balance given the circumstances.
Another key detail is a shift in scheduling strategy. According to Khan, WWE currently plans to host only the premium live event in Riyadh, with no accompanying episodes of RAW or SmackDown in the region. That’s a notable change from past international trips, where WWE typically ran a full slate of shows.
Khan also noted Saudi Arabia’s continued interest in hosting WWE events. “Saudi is deeply desirous of getting WWE back there and getting events restarted, especially those that come from the United States.”
For now, the event remains on the calendar, but its final status will depend on conditions in the weeks ahead. Much like a high-stakes main event, this situation is still unfolding. Now, WWE is waiting for the right moment to make its move.
