MJF has publicly fired back at Carlos Silva following the cancellation of multiple inter-promotional matches, including a scheduled bout with Nic Nemeth on May 1.
The situation unfolded after TNA Wrestling pulled its contracted talent from independent events involving AEW stars. However, the real tension didn’t stop at the cancellations.
MJF responds to Carlos Silva’s comments on pulled matches
Silva addressed the controversy during an appearance on Busted Open Radio. He took responsibility for the decision and framed it as a necessary business move. He admitted the backlash hasn’t been easy. He stated, “I don’t like being called a little bitch on social any more than anyone does.”
He continued by stressing the reasoning behind the call: “We’re gonna make decisions that are good for TNA… you gotta protect this house.” Silva added, “It was my decision. Yeah, I take full ownership,” noting that pulling talent from matches — including appearances involving Nemeth and Leon Slater — was done to protect partnerships and company interests.
The move ultimately scrapped the advertised match between MJF and Nemeth at the Create-A-Pro event, despite promotion running amok in advance. CAP co-owner Pat Buck reportedly criticised the decision, while Nemeth himself acknowledged disappointment but deferred to contractual obligations.
MJF, however, didn’t hold back. Responding on social media (X), he wrote: “I think it’s cool that you can just lie. my turn.” He followed with a sarcastic jab: “I think Kevin knight has a shot at beating me at 8pm sharp and I also think Darby Allin is a GREAT champion.”
The AEW star has also reportedly labelled Silva’s explanation as dishonest. He suggested the cancellations may have connections to broader tensions between promotions. While Silva framed the move as standard business, MJF’s response turned it into a verbal cage match — no referee required.
This dispute arrives during a turbulent stretch for MJF. He recently lost the AEW World Championship to Darby Allin and has since shifted focus toward the TNT Championship.
As promotions continue to guard their turf, this situation highlights how business decisions can quickly turn into storyline-adjacent conflict. Whether this remains a war of words or escalates further, fans are now watching closely — because sometimes the biggest battles don’t happen in the ring.
