AEW delivered a hard-hitting main event on the April 29, 2026, episode of AEW Dynamite, as Darby Allin showed he truly is a fighting champion. Just two weeks after beating MJF to win the AEW World Championship, Allin defended his title in a brutal match against Brody King.
Allin came into this match already hurt from his previous title defense against Tommaso Ciampa. That match took a lot out of him, but instead of resting, he accepted another tough challenge from King just after that match.

As the match started, Allin tried to surprise King early with a Coffin Drop, but King stopped him right away. Using his size and strength, King dominated for a while, throwing Allin around with moves like a German suplex and a heavy cannonball. He even looked close to winning with his Gonzo Bomb, but Allin managed to escape.
Allin fought back with his usual speed and never-give-up attitude. He hit a big avalanche Yoshi Tonic that almost ended the match, but King kicked out and rolled outside to recover. Allin tried to keep the pressure on with a dive, but King brushed it off and kept attacking.
As the match went on, the fight moved outside the ring, where King used the surroundings to his advantage. In one moment, he smashed Allin through a table cover with a senton. Both men were down, but Allin still refused to quit. The back and forth kept happening on the announce desk. Allin hit a Yoshi Tonic and a suicide leg dive on King.
Back in the ring, King trapped Allin in the Tree of Woe and hit a cannonball senton. He went for a cover after a hard lariat, but Allin kicked out. King then hit another huge lariat, but Allin didn’t give up.
Brody King threw Allin to the outside and went after him, but the AEW World Champion pulled up the floor mats to expose the concrete. King set him up near the barricade and charged in, but Darby Allin moved at the last second, causing his opponent to crash straight through the barricade after missing the cannonball senton.
Back in the ring, Allin bit King’s hand and traded some punches. King then tried to hit a suplex, but Allin slipped out, went behind him, and hit a powerbomb onto the exposed concrete outside. He then went all out with a Coffin Drop from the second rope to the floor.
Allin got back into the ring. King also just managed to get back in at the count of nine. Without wasting a second, Allin hit a Coffin Drop, then followed up with another one.
Darby Allin got the pin and retained the AEW World Championship.
