Two years ago, WWE put on an incredible rendition of its Backlash premium live event in Lyon, France, and AJ Styles recently shared how hard it was to not do something during it.
In a recent post on social media, Styles shared a post commemorating the event, which took place two years ago today. The event has become well known for its absolutely incredible crowd, as well as the show’s main event, which saw Cody Rhodes defeat Styles to retain his Undisputed WWE Championship.
The match itself has gone on to become a classic, with both stars going all out in what is considered one of Styles’ finest matches. On social media, Styles said that one of the hardest things he’s ever had to do was “not cracking a smile” during it.
Styles didn’t win the championship that night, but it was one of his best matches ever, and goes down in the pantheon of what is one of the most legendary careers in pro wrestling.
