AEW’s Zayda Steel shuts down rumors about her exit from WWE.
Zayda Steel signed with WWE in November 2024 as part of the ID program. She was one of the first prospects announced when the promotion first launched the initiative. However, Steel announced in October 2025 that she won’t be renewing her contract, saying that while she’s grateful for the opportunity, she has to do what’s best for her.
Following her exit, Zayda Steel debuted for Ring of Honor in December 2025 and then for AEW the following month. She joined the SkyFlight faction, and after her match against Marina Shafir on the January 17 episode of Collision, Tony Khan announced that she had signed with the promotion.
While fans continued to speculate about her exit from WWE, one recently took to X/Twitter to say she left the promotion to be closer to her boyfriend. The AEW star responded to the fan and refuted their claim, saying she doesn’t have a boyfriend and that she left because she didn’t want to be there.
“I find out new things about myself everyday on this app. I don’t have a boyfriend & would never do anything for a man. I didn’t want to be there what don’t y’all get,” Zayda Steel replied.
Zayda Steel unsuccessfully challenged Athena for the ROH Women’s World Championship last month. Now she’s aiming for a second chance to end The War Goddess’ 1245+ day title reign. The AEW star will battle Hyan next week on ROH TV for the vacant spot in the Survival of the Fittest match for the title at Supercard of Honor on May 15.
