Jade Cargill made an impactful return during the May 8 episode of SmackDown in Jacksonville, Florida, crashing a major six-woman tag team match and immediately putting herself back into WWE’s crowded title picture.
The former WWE Women’s Champion had been absent from television since losing to Rhea Ripley at WrestleMania 42, but her comeback made it clear she has unfinished business.
By the end of the night, several of SmackDown’s biggest names were left laid out as the chaos spiraled far beyond a normal tag match.
Jade Cargill returns to SmackDown with a brutal attack
The return unfolded during a six-woman tag bout featuring Ripley, Charlotte Flair, and Alexa Bliss against Fatal Influence’s Fallon Henley, Jacy Jayne, and Lainey Reid.
The match shifted momentum after Flair tagged in and began clearing the ring. However, Cargill suddenly appeared at ringside near the babyface corner, creating enough distraction for Jacy Jayne to capitalize and score the pinfall victory over Bliss with a rolling elbow strike.
After the match, Cargill slowly cornered Bliss and mocked her while telling her to get up. Flair attempted to intervene, but B-Fab and Michin cut her off before she could make the save.
Ripley then charged back into the ring and briefly fought off the group, dropping Cargill with a dropkick and unloading strikes on the others. The momentum didn’t last long. Cargill answered with a brutal pump kick that dropped the reigning champion and left the crowd stunned.
The appearance marked Cargill’s first WWE television appearance since her 169-day championship reign ended at WrestleMania 42. Reports noted her recent absence included both creative downtime and personal time away supporting husband Brandon Phillips during his Cincinnati Reds Hall of Fame induction.
Now back on SmackDown, the former Women’s Champion has immediately reinserted herself into the women’s division’s top storyline. With Ripley still standing at the center of the championship scene, the rivalry between both powerhouses appears far from over.
