Jade Cargill Says Viral WWE Wardrobe Malfunction Was One of Her Biggest Fears Come True

WWE‘s Jade Cargill says she almost rolled out of the ring and left after suffering a wig malfunction on SmackDown.

During her recent appearance on the No-Contest Wrestling Podcast, former WWE Women’s Champion Jade Cargill opened up about her wig accidentally coming off during her match on the June 12, 2026, episode of SmackDown. She clarified that the wig wasn’t simply glued on; it was sewn in. The impact was so intense that it literally tore the wig off, pulling some of her own hair out in the process.

Jade Cargill also expressed frustration with the “ignorance” and “clickbait” surrounding the moment. She noted that many women in wrestling wear wigs or extensions, and she feels that calling it a “botch” is unfair, saying it was only a wardrobe malfunction. She’s shocked that she persevered and finished the match, despite the embarrassing incident.

“Ignorance is so loud, because so many women have lost extensions, so many women have had all kinds of malfunctions with their wardrobe,” Cargill said. “And for some reason, they called it a botch when my hair is part of my character? What are we calling botches now? I think people are getting so loose with the word now.”

Jade Cargill is shocked that she finished the match

“I talk about it all the time. It’s one of my biggest fears, and it happened. More than anything, I’m alive. More than anything, though, I’m shocked I finished that match. I don’t know if you know, but I was starting to roll out. I was starting to roll out, and that’s why Charlotte got one over on me, because I was worried about that wig that entire time. If it wasn’t for that, I would have definitely took that match home,” Jade Cargill said.

“But listen, I mean, a lot of things was going through my mind, and when it happened, I screamed out Charlotte. I was like, ‘CHARLOTTE!’ I was so mad,” Cargill continued. “I was just like, ‘I can’t stop right now,’ and I persevered, and I kept on going, and I was like, ‘Alright, well, y’all got the best of me this time, and I gotta keep going.’

Speaking further, Jade Cargill revealed that her natural hair previously grew well below her shoulders. However, she cut it to make a point. She’s also thankful that her bald cap came out with the wig. Cargill said if it had remained intact, people would’ve thought she was bald. She also credited referee Daphanie LaShaunn for helping her stay focused throughout the whole ordeal.
