AEW Has ‘Real Interest’ In WWE Legend Mick Foley — Report

AEW is interested in working with a major name from the WWE Attitude Era.

WWE Hall of Famer Mick Foley has never worked for AEW, but the company has reportedly shown serious interest in bringing him in. According to a new report from The Takedown on SI‘s Jon Alba, AEW has shown “real interest” in working with Foley once his WWE Legends contract expires next month.

Multiple sources speaking with the outlet claim that AEW wants to bring Foley in, although it’s unclear how big a role Foley might have. It was pointed out that AEW could only be interested in him making a single appearance, and the company’s desire to sign him to a contract is unclear.

Alba noted that AEW Double or Nothing is taking place in Flushing, Queens, New York, which is near Foley’s hometown of Long Island. The main event match will see MJF, another Long Island native, compete against Darby Allin in a title vs. hair match.

One AEW source said that it would not be a surprise if a deal to get Foley to appear on the show was made, although they did not have any confirmation this was the case. AEW might be showing interest in using Foley, but it’s unclear how far conversations between the two parties have progressed at this time.

Mick Foley severed ties with WWE over the company’s relationship with Donald Trump

In December 2025, Mick Foley announced that he was parting ways with WWE over its association with Donald Trump. Foley said that he would no longer be making appearances for the company and would not renew his Legends deal when it expires in 2026.

Foley told Orlando Weekly that the decision has cost him some fans, although he knows it’s their right to do so.

“People know that I’m not on board with a lot of things the current administration is doing,” Mick Foley said. “I have fans who feel different, and still like and support me. And I have [fans] who dropped out of the fandom, which is obviously their right. People know I’m outspoken. But the closest I get to making a political statement in the show is saying that kindness is cool.”

Foley recently made an appearance in OVW as a special guest referee, adding to the huge list of companies he’s worked for over the years. However, fans will have to wait and see if Foley and AEW can make a deal happen.
