New WWE SmackDown Star Wants In on John Cena Classic

Blake Monroe is yet to make her SmackDown debut but she is already showing interest in WWE’s new John Cena Classic project. Even though the company is still working out the details of the tournament, Monroe has made it clear that she wants to be part of it.

The John Cena Classic became a huge talking point after the recently retired star announced it at WWE Backlash. While he has promised that it will give opportunities to many new and upcoming names, Monroe can’t wait to be one of them.

During a recent interview with Marca, Monroe openly campaigned for a spot in the tournament and said she could be one of its top stars.

“Of course I want to be part of it. It looks like it’s going to be a huge tournament, and obviously you need to headline it with a big name like the glamorous Blake Monroe,” she said.

Monroe also spoke about possible opponents if WWE allows talent from different brands and territories to compete in the tournament. One name she quickly brought up was Tatum Paxley, hinting that their rivalry is not over yet.

“As for who I’d like to face… I just escaped the women of NXT; they were tormenting me. But we have so much talent. I’d love to face Tatum again because we have unfinished business after he put me in a casket. There’s also Kendall Grey and a lot of new European additions. I’d love to be a part of it. And if I’m not, I’ll still enjoy watching because it’ll be interesting to see how all these people from different backgrounds clash,” Monroe said.

She was referring to her casket match loss to Paxley at NXT: Revenge in April 2026. The match ended up being Monroe’s final appearance in NXT before moving toward the main roster.

Cena recently explained that the John Cena Classic is inspired by his own journey in WWE, especially during his retirement tour. The idea behind the tournament is to give younger wrestlers a chance to prove themselves on a big stage.
