Doink The Clown Makes Scandalous Claim About Former WWE Star’s Career Rise

Doink the Clown makes a scandalous accusation about another star’s rise in WWE.

Several performers have portrayed the Doink the Clown character in WWE and the independent circuit over the years. Matt Osborne was the first, and after he got released for failing a drug test in late 1993, Steve Lombardi (AKA The Brooklyn Brawler) and Ray Apollo played the gimmick.

It was Ray Apollo who made the accusation, and it was against Steve Lombardi. He claimed that while other wrestlers worked their way up in WWE, Lombardi had a friend in the office, WWE Hall of Famer Pat Patterson. Apollo claimed Patterson helped Lombardi in a lot of ways“, implying they slept together.

“Hey, wrestling fans. It’s been brought to my attention there is another guy running around trying to be me. Well, it doesn’t work. Often imitated, never duplicated. There’s only one, the one and only Doink the Clown.

“Now, as far as the wrestling business, some of us had to work to get where we are, and some of us got there other ways. And Lombardi, I know you had a friend in the office, his name was Mr. Patterson. He helped you along in a lot of ways,” he claimed.

Several other notable names have portrayed the Doink the Clown character over the years, including “Eugene” Nick Dinsmore, who made a one-off appearance at Vengeance 2003.

Matt Osborne, the original Doink the Clown, passed away in June 2013. His girlfriend found him unresponsive in their apartment in Plano, Texas. Authorities later noted that he died at a local hospital. Medical examiners determined that the cause of his death was an accidental overdose of pain medication.
