WWE is reportedly looking to revamp the tag team division.
According to a recent report from False Finish, WWE is in the process of rebuilding the tag team division from within while also exploring the possibility of signing tag teams from other promotions in the near future.
The news comes after WWE recently released several talents after WrestleMania 42, including teams like the Motor City Machine Guns and the Wyatt Sicks. The New Day’s Kofi Kingston and Xavier Woods also chose to leave after the promotion reportedly asked them to take significant pay cuts. MFT’s Tonga Loa and JC Mateo also recently departed from the company.
Recent reports also noted that former Cruiserweight Champion Enzo Amore has been visiting the WWE Performance Center often and that he and the promotion had been in touch since WrestleMania 42 weekend. Another report from Fightful also noted that Big Bill’s (Big Cass) AEW contract will be up in late May or early June, fueling speculation that both stars could reunite in WWE in the coming days.
WWE currently features multiple men’s and women’s tag teams across all its brands, with some of them also actively competing in AAA. RAW’s Vision (Logan Paul & Austin Theory) will defend the World Tag Team Championship against the Street Profits at Saturday Night’s Main Event on May 23. Paige and Brie Bella will also defend the Women’s Tag Team Championship against Lash Legend and Nia Jax at the event.
