Tony Khan says he would “love” to see Mick Foley wrestle in AEW one day, but the company’s current plans for the hardcore icon are taking a less painful route.
With Foley officially joining AEW this weekend at Double or Nothing, fans are already wondering if “Cactus Jack” might eventually dust off the flannel for one more ride down wrestling’s most dangerous road.
Speaking during AEW’s Double or Nothing media call, Khan made it clear that Foley’s immediate role centers around broadcasting and mentoring rather than taking bumps.
“Right now we’re focused on Mick broadcasting, and lending his experience to AEW,” Khan said. “So much good will in the pro wrestling community exists for Mick Foley.”
Foley is set to make his AEW debut on May 24 as a co-host for the Double or Nothing “Buy In” pre-show alongside Renee Paquette.
Khan also hinted that Foley could appear on future pay-per-view broadcasts and select television programming.

The bigger question, however, remains whether Foley could eventually step back into the ring at age 60. Khan did not shut the door on the idea, though he stressed that Foley’s health comes first.
“I can’t speak for Mick Foley as to whether he’d want to wrestle,” Khan explained. “But if he ever does, I would love for him to do it in AEW.”
Khan continued by acknowledging Foley’s long history of injuries and physical punishment. “I don’t wanna put him in a situation in which he’ll be uncomfortable,” he added. “Physically, I would only ever ask him to wrestle if he felt up to it.”
Foley has not wrestled an official match since the 2012 WWE Royal Rumble and has openly discussed the toll wrestling took on his body over the years.
Still, the thought of Foley potentially returning in AEW has already sparked conversation among fans — especially given his previous interest in one final death match.
For now, AEW appears focused on using Foley’s legendary wrestling mind backstage while letting the possibility of an in-ring comeback remain a “Bang Bang” sized question mark.
