Adam Copeland Admits He Doesn’t Know What His AEW Retirement Sendoff Will Look Like

Adam Copeland doesn’t have a strong opinion about what his AEW retirement send-off should be like.

During a recent interview with Clutchpoints, WWE Hall of Famer and current AEW star Adam Copeland opened up about his potential retirement and send-off from the promotion. At this stage in his career, he is “easy” to please and open to doing whatever Tony Khan asks of him, whether it’s a John Cena-like retirement tour or an unannounced final match.

“I already had my sendoff,” Adam Copeland said, referring to his 2011 WWE retirement due to neck injuries. “This time, it’ll be my choice, and that makes it a different experience entirely.”

The former two-time AEW TNT Champion said, “I don’t care if I get this big, tearful sendoff.” It also doesn’t seem like he enjoyed his first retirement, as Adam Copeland said he’s unsure, “if I wanna do that again. I have no preconceived idea of what it needs to be,”

Adam Copeland says pro wrestling helped his transition into acting

During his recent interview on Westwood One Sports Night, the hosts asked Adam Copeland what advice he’d offer to someone looking to reinvent themselves after retirement, as he did by transitioning into acting following his first retirement from WWE.

Copeland noted that another retirement from wrestling would be easier, as he has already done it once in WWE. He said when that happened, acting was like a happy accident that fell into his lap. Copeland also noted that the years he spent in the pro wrestling business actually helped his transition into acting.

“For me personally, I never introduce myself as Edge. Edge was a character that I played on television. Adam Copeland, this version of Adam Copeland is closer to me, still a character. Like, I don’t go around bashing people with a spiked 2×4 with me. I don’t do that, right? So, to me, the retirement thing isn’t that, I don’t want to say not that big a deal, but I already did it once, and when that happened, acting was the happy accident that fell in my lap.

“Then I realized, ‘Wait, I actually really enjoy this.’ Pro wrestling was amazing training for this because I don’t feel like I’m starting from scratch. I feel like I’m at least starting halfway or maybe a quarter. So knowing that too and knowing that there’s acting going forward, that makes things a little more easy to chew on.” Adam Copeland said.
