Ronda Rousey has addressed the possibility of stepping back into an AEW ring after company president Tony Khan publicly stated that the former WWE and UFC champion is welcome back whenever she wants.
However, her latest comments suggest fans shouldn’t expect another run anytime soon.
Speaking on the Up & Adams Show with Kay Adams, Rousey discussed Khan’s open invitation while reflecting on her surprise appearance at AEW Revolution earlier this year.
While she clearly enjoyed the experience, she also made it known that a full-time return isn’t currently on her radar.
Ronda Rousey explains why an AEW return isn’t in her plans
When asked directly about potentially returning to AEW, Rousey pointed to the demands of life on the road as the main reason she isn’t interested in resuming a wrestling schedule.
“No, I — that life of being on the road is probably more time-consuming than doing training camp at home,” Rousey said.
Kay Adams noted that Rousey appeared to have fun during her appearance at AEW Revolution. The former WWE star agreed but explained the circumstances that made that appearance different from a long-term commitment.
“I had a great time, but it just happened to be in town, and my best friend was there. You know what I mean?” Rousey added.
Rousey made a surprise appearance at AEW Revolution in Los Angeles in March, helping her longtime friend and training partner Marina Shafir after Shafir’s match with Toni Storm.
The appearance quickly generated speculation about a possible future with the promotion, especially after Tony Khan later stated that she would be welcome back at any time.
Despite that open door, Rousey’s latest comments indicate she has no plans to make professional wrestling part of her future. Her Revolution appearance appears to have been a unique situation rather than the start of a new chapter.
For now, the possibility of another AEW appearance remains a “rowdy” topic among fans, but based on Rousey’s own words, it doesn’t sound like she’ll be making the walk down the entrance ramp again anytime soon.
