Drew McIntyre’s time away from WWE may soon be coming to an end. A new report suggests that the Scottish Warrior has finished his commitments outside wrestling and could be preparing for a return.
McIntyre has been absent from WWE since WrestleMania 42, where he lost to Jacob Fatu in a brutal unsanctioned match. Many speculated that an injury or creative plans were keeping him off TV, but the real reason was a major acting opportunity.
Shortly after WrestleMania, McIntyre traveled to Scotland to film the upcoming Highlander reboot, directed by Chad Stahelski.
Drew McIntyre’s WWE Return May Be Near After Film Shoot Wraps
According to PWInsider, McIntyre has now finished filming his scenes for the movie. With that commitment out of the way, there is nothing major stopping him from returning to WWE in the near future.
The timing is interesting because WWE is currently on its European tour. SmackDown just took place in Barcelona, Spain, ahead of this weekend’s Clash in Italy event. All this has fueled speculation that his return could happen very soon.
Even while away from WWE TV, McIntyre keeps on sharing his workout videos on social media, showing off his physique, which shows that the Scottish Warrior is healthy and in his best shape.
With a comeback seemingly getting closer, there are a lot of possibilities for McIntyre. One is a babyface turn. Another option could be a renewed feud with Jacob Fatu after he deals with Roman Reigns at Clash in Italy. Their past matches have delivered memorable moments, making it an easy feud to bring back.
Outside WWE, McIntyre’s role in the Highlander reboot is a major step in his acting career. He is set to play Angus MacLeod, the brother of Connor MacLeod, who will be portrayed by Henry Cavill.
