Former TNA star Steve Maclin is officially done with the company. His next move could be significant.
TNA Wrestling announced the releases of Maclin and Knockout Myla Grace. The company thanked both stars and wished them well. Soon after the announcement, Maclin confirmed the news on X, formerly known as, Twitter. He revealed that he had requested his release the previous week.
“Last week I requested my release from TNA,” Maclin wrote. “I put my blood, sweat, and tears into everything I’ve done over the last 5 years and I’ll always be thankful for my time there. But now, it’s time to STACK BODIES. See you soon.”
His departure comes just months after re-signing. Now, attention quickly shifts elsewhere. WWE and AEW are already being discussed as possible destinations.
Steve Maclin could land in WWE or AEW following TNA exit
According to Fightful Select’s Sean Ross Sapp, Steve Maclin wanted to keep his departure private. That changed when TNA issued its official statement. The report noted that such announcements are uncommon for TNA. Neither Maclin nor Myla Grace were reportedly consulted beforehand.
Sapp also reported that Maclin had voiced frustrations with TNA’s creative direction. Those concerns reportedly dated back to last year. Maclin was also said to be unhappy with the company’s progress following the move to AMC and the issues regarding talent pay were reportedly another concern.
Regarding his future, Sapp reported that several promotions are expected to show interest. WWE and AEW are already being discussed as possible destinations. It will be interesting to see where he goes next. An AEW move would reunite Maclin with his wife, Deonna Purrazzo.
For now, Maclin appears set to become one of wrestling’s most notable free agents.
