An AEW star recently had to clear the air after a joke about landing a horror movie role was taken seriously by fans online.
Former AEW Women’s World Tag Team Champion Harley Cameron initially claimed that she had nearly been cast in a lead role for the horror film Obsession, which hit theaters in May 2026.
However, she later revealed that the entire story had been intended as satire.
“Cat is out of the bag – I auditioned for obsession and was told it nearly was me who got cast , I wanted to share my passionate audition and thank @curry.barker for the opportunity and of course congratulations to @indenavarrette – apparently it came down to us two and I am honored,” she wrote in a now-deleted post.
Taking to her Instagram Stories, Cameron explained that the joke didn’t land the way she had hoped. The clarification came after she deleted the post where she claimed she had been one of the finalists for a role in the movie.
“Guys oh my gosh it was satire [smiling with tears emoji]
“I had to take it down because the joke didn’t hit the way I planned – I was being AUSTRALIAN and terrible at acting hahahaha,” she wrote.
Harley Cameron on getting interest outside of wrestling due to AEW
While the horror movie story turned out to be a joke, Cameron has previously revealed that her work in AEW has led to opportunities outside the wrestling industry.
“I will say just for privacy reasons I won’t say specifically who. I will say I did have a lot of people reach out with opportunities because they’ve seen the show. You never know. Some of that might be evident in the future with the things I’m working on currently.
“But I think it’s fantastic because people have seen our show and reached out to me about other things. I just think how cool it is that my other walks of life, whether it’s the puppetry, the music, or the wrestling itself has brought a new audience in.”
