Former WWE Star Claims Cody Rhodes Wouldn’t Last in MMA Fight Against Him

Former WWE star Val Venis has continued taking aim at Cody Rhodes, this time claiming the former Undisputed WWE Champion wouldn’t survive a hypothetical MMA fight against him.

The latest comments arrived after Rhodes’ Night of Champions loss, adding another chapter to Venis’ ongoing social media criticism.

Rather than revisiting WWE storylines, Venis shifted the conversation to amateur wrestling and mixed martial arts, throwing out a challenge that exists only on social media for now.

Still, his latest remarks certainly didn’t pull any punches.

Val Venis escalates Cody Rhodes criticism with MMA challenge

Posting on X, Venis acknowledged that Rhodes has a legitimate amateur wrestling background, noting that the American Nightmare won state championships during high school. He even compared Rhodes’ credentials to those of CM Punk before Punk entered MMA.

“Donkey Cud Cody Rhodes has a couple of state championships from his high school days. That’s already a better wrestling pedigree than CM Punk had before trying MMA,” Venis wrote.

However, the former WWE star insisted those accomplishments would not help Rhodes inside an MMA cage. He added, “But lock ‘Cud-Chew’ Cody in an MMA cage with The Big Valbowski, Val Venis, and the Cody fantasy ends the moment the door closes.”

Venis didn’t stop there. He also argued that Rhodes’ confidence outweighs his actual fighting ability, writing, “Wrestling trophies won’t prepare him for surviving a real fight.” To accompany the post, he shared an AI-generated image featuring himself and Rhodes inside an MMA cage alongside a fictional “tale of the tape.” That’s one fantasy booking that definitely isn’t headed to WrestleMania.

The comments continue a string of recent social media attacks from Venis aimed at Rhodes. In previous posts, he mocked Rhodes following his Night of Champions defeat to Sami Zayn and even claimed Disco Inferno, at his worst, would defeat him.

As of this writing, Rhodes has not publicly responded to any of Venis’ comments. For now, the exchange remains limited to social media, with no indication that the war of words will move beyond X.
