Nattie Earns First WWE NXT Women’s Title Match In Over Two Years

Kendal Grey won’t have much time to celebrate her NXT Women’s Championship win. Just days after winning the title at The Great American Bash, she has already found out who her first challenger will be. WWE veteran Nattie will challenge Grey for the championship on next week’s episode of NXT.

The match is a big opportunity for Nattie, who will compete for the NXT Women’s Championship for the first time in over two years. Nattie believes she has earned another shot at gold, while Grey says she is ready to face anyone.

Nattie demands an NXT title shot

At The Great American Bash, Grey defeated Lola Vice to win the NXT Women’s Championship and capture the biggest title of her career.

On the June 30 episode of NXT, Grey celebrated her title win with the fans. Wrenn Sinclair joined her in the ring, and the two celebrated with a cake after both left The Great American Bash as champions, although their celebration got messy with interference from Kelani Jordan and Tatum Paxley.

Later in the show, Grey met NXT General Manager Robert Stone backstage to talk about her first title defense.

Stone told her he was putting together a four-way No. 1 contender’s match for the NXT Women’s North American Championship on next week’s show. Before they could finish talking, Nattie walked in along with Nikkita Lyons, Layla Diggs and Karmen Petrovic.

The WWE veteran said she has spent years proving herself and believes she deserves another chance at championship gold. Calling herself an “underappreciated legend,” Nattie said nobody deserves the opportunity more than she does.

Grey didn’t waste much time. She said she was happy to face anyone, including Nattie. Stone agreed and officially announced the NXT Women’s Championship match for next week’s episode.

This will also be Nattie’s first shot at the NXT Women’s Championship since 2024. Her last title opportunity came on the April 9, 2024, episode of NXT, where she challenged Roxanne Perez. Nattie came up short and hasn’t competed for the championship since then.
