Former WWE star Heath Slater isn’t actively campaigning for another run with the company, but he has made one thing crystal clear — if WWE decides to call, he’ll be ready to answer.
With only a handful of in-ring years left by his own estimate, Slater says the door remains wide open for one last chapter.
Although no return has been announced, the veteran shared that he continues training so he can step back into the ring whenever an opportunity presents itself.
After all, in wrestling, one entrance theme can change everything.
Heath Slater says he’s staying ready for a possible WWE return
Speaking about a potential comeback to David Otunga, Slater explained that he’s keeping himself in shape in case WWE wants a nostalgia appearance, particularly in the Royal Rumble.
“So my mind is I want to stay ready. I want to be in the gym. I want to stay in shape. So if anything happens to where they’re like, you know what, we need some nostalgia in the Rumble… I’m be like, hell yeah, I do, man. Hit my music.”
He also stressed that WWE already knows how to reach him.
“They got my damn number, my email. All they have to do is call me and hit my damn music because I’m ready for it. I’ll go and do it.”
Slater admitted time is becoming a factor in his career. The 42-year-old revealed he believes he has only a few strong years left before considering retirement.
“Dude, I’m 42 right now… I have literally a handful of good years,” he said. “After 46, 47, I don’t know, man.” He added that the day a younger wrestler leaves him “huffing and puffing” in the ring might be the moment he realizes it’s time to “dock my ship.”
The former WWE star also floated the idea of reuniting with Drew McIntyre and Jinder Mahal, joking that he’d gladly take part in a 3MB reunion. He even said he’d happily win a championship if asked — and lose it the very next night because he’s “a team player.”
Released during WWE’s 2020 roster cuts, Slater has since competed in TNA and is currently a free agent. For now, the ball remains in WWE’s court, but if his music ever hits again, Slater sounds more than ready for one final encore.
