WWE Hall Of Famer Confirms AEW Exit After Six-Year Run

Jake “The Snake” Roberts has confirmed that his time with AEW has come to an end.

The WWE Hall of Famer recently revealed he is no longer employed by Tony Khan’s promotion, bringing a six-year association with the company to a close.

Although Roberts is moving on, there appears to be no bad blood. In fact, the wrestling legend had nothing but praise for both AEW and its president.

During an interview with Bill Apter, Roberts reflected on his run with AEW before confirming his exit.

“Loved it,” Roberts said of working with AEW. “I just finished up working for him. I’m no longer employed by AEW.”

When asked about working with Tony Khan, Roberts was equally complimentary.

“He is awesome. He really is — breath of fresh air.”

Roberts first appeared in AEW during the company’s early days before officially joining in 2020. He quickly became the on-screen manager for Lance Archer and remained a recurring presence on AEW television. Beyond his television role, Roberts also became involved with AEW Together, the promotion’s community outreach initiative, in 2023.

While his television appearances became less frequent in recent years, Roberts remained connected to the company until confirming his departure. The 71-year-old also shared that his current focus is spending time with his grandchildren, showing that his priorities have shifted outside the ring.

A member of the WWE Hall of Fame’s Class of 2014, Roberts remains one of wrestling’s most influential figures. His legendary promos, signature DDT, and ability to captivate audiences made him a cornerstone of multiple promotions throughout his career. Fans also witnessed his remarkable personal comeback in the documentary The Resurrection of Jake Roberts, which chronicled his journey to sobriety.

With Roberts officially exiting AEW, another chapter in the company’s early history comes to a close. As AEW heads toward All In, the Hall of Famer leaves on positive terms — proving that, unlike one of his famous DDTs, not every wrestling ending has to land with a thud.
