The Great Khali recently claimed Vince McMahon changed his WWE character after learning he wanted to leave the company. The Hall of Famer alleged WWE turned him from a dominant monster into a comedy act to weaken his character.

The Great Khali believes Vince McMahon tried to kill his character

Speaking on Insight with Chris Van Vliet, Khali said, “I just say ‘I don’t want to work more in WWE.’ After WWE found out, he thinking, ‘Khali want to leave. He want to leave.’ So then he made me a comedy wrestler because he want to kill my character.”

He continued, “When I say first time, after three year, I want to leave, so he just try to pay me more. I said, ‘Okay.’ Then he’s thinking, ‘Oh, he want to leave.’ So then he tried to kill my character. He want to kill my character, but Indian people love me.”

Khali also looked back at the 2011 WWE RAW backstage segment where he dressed as the Tooth Fairy during The Rock’s birthday celebration. He said, “Oh man, that’s so embarrassing. Whatever I do, I feel a little embarrassed. They tried to kill my character.”

The former WWE World Heavyweight Champion also recalled missing out on a Hollywood movie after WWE allegedly changed its mind. Khali said, “My agent got an offer for me for the Get Smart movie… WWE gave permission… After I became WWE Champion, WWE said, ‘No, you can’t go do the movie.'”

He added that he wanted to balance both careers, saying, “I want to work movies and wrestling.” Khali also clarified that he still views Vince McMahon positively, adding, “Vince McMahon is a nice guy.” Khali suggested someone around the former WWE Chairman may have influenced those creative decisions.
