Jack Perry has officially put weeks of contract speculation to rest. During the July 8 edition of AEW Dynamite: Beach Break, the AEW original confirmed he signed a new deal with the company. Nevertheless, he never appeared live inside the arena.
Instead, AEW delivered the announcement through a cinematic video package that looked back at Perry’s journey before ending with a symbolic statement about his future.
Jack Perry commits his future to AEW
The vignette aired following Willow Nightingale’s victory over Julia Hart to become the number one contender for the AEW Women’s World Championship. It chronicled Perry’s evolution from one of AEW’s original stars to a competitor determined to reach the top of the company.
Reflecting on his career, Perry admitted that he had often been labeled as someone with potential. He questioned whether he had fulfilled it during his time as “The Scapegoat.” Jack Perry made it clear that his ambitions have only grown. He said, “I want to be the best, I want AEW World Champion. It’s not enough to be here, I want to be the very best.”
Perry also explained why staying with the promotion mattered to him. He added, “AEW is where the future of professional wrestling is going to be decided. This is the place where I want to be the champion because this is where the very best in the world belong, and that’s why I am re-signing with AEW.”
The package also featured Luchasaurus, who reflected on their partnership by saying he had always promised to protect Perry and believed he had lived up to that promise.
The video concluded with Perry meeting AEW President Tony Khan, signing his new contract, and dramatically driving a knife through the signed paperwork before walking away. Talk about putting pen to paper — and then putting a point on it.
Perry’s announcement comes after more than a month of uncertainty surrounding his contract status. His last AEW match came on the June 24 episode of Dynamite. Zack Sabre Jr handed him a defeat on that occasion. With his future now secured, Perry has made it clear that his next goal is chasing the AEW World Championship.
