Baron Corbin made an unexpected return to WWE on the July 10 episode of SmackDown, but instead of announcing himself with words, he let End of Days do the talking.
His surprise appearance brought the non-title match between Trick Williams and Carmelo Hayes to an abrupt halt, leaving fans with more questions than answers.
The former WWE star didn’t just crash the party — he made it clear he intends to stay in the title picture.
Baron Corbin targets the United States Championship on SmackDown
Trick Williams and Carmelo Hayes were in the middle of a competitive non-title bout, trading momentum through a back-and-forth contest. Hayes appeared to be closing in on victory after connecting with First 48 and climbing to the top rope for another big move.
Before he could capitalize, Corbin emerged from nowhere and yanked Hayes off the turnbuckles, sending him crashing onto the top rope. The referee immediately called for the bell, awarding Hayes the match by disqualification.
Corbin wasn’t finished. He drove Trick into the ring post before planting both Trick and Hayes with consecutive End of Days. To cap off the statement, he picked up the United States Championship, dropped the title onto Trick, and stood tall over the champion before leaving the ring. It was a not-so-subtle way of putting his name in the championship conversation.
Corbin’s return comes after his WWE departure in November 2024 when his contract expired. During his time away, he competed on the independent scene and in Major League Wrestling under the name Bishop Dyer, where he captured the MLW World Tag Team Championship alongside Donovan Dijak.
Following weeks of internal discussions and his exit from MLW, WWE finalized a deal to bring the former champion back to the main roster. His first night back made one thing crystal clear — Corbin didn’t return just to shake hands. He returned to shake up the United States title scene, and Trick Williams may already have a new problem to solve.
