NXT star Ethan Page recently opened up about how another star in the company almost lost their eye in a match.
During a recent episode of the Insight podcast, Page opened up about a brutal spot he and Ricky Saints had during their NXT North American Championship match last year. According to Page, a chair spot almost went awry, and nearly cost Saints an eye.
“So it could have been worse,” Page said. “And I don’t know. I know you do these great clips, and this might be a little zoom-in freeze-frame moment for you, but he almost lost his eye. After he ends up injuring his trachea across the way the chair was, the way the chair fell. I give him a twisted grin and I’m trying to pull his throat down in between the legs of the chair.
“As I’m yanking him down, if you watch the leg closest to the camera, it literally grazes his cheek, and you see his cheek after, there’s a mark.” Page went on to say that if you look close enough, you can spot the mark on his cheek, and if it was any differently placed, Saints would’ve lost his eye.
“It’s like purple. Maybe an inch to a half an inch, he would have lost his eye.”
