Jeff Jarrett Blames Hulk Hogan For TNA’s Financial Death Spiral

Jeff Jarrett has shared some of his strongest criticism about Hulk Hogan’s time in TNA Wrestling. During the latest episode of Dark Side of the Ring Season 7, Jarrett said Hogan’s arrival was the start of the company’s financial decline.

Jarrett believes TNA was doing well financially before Hogan joined. In his view, the new leadership’s decisions quickly changed that and pushed the company into serious trouble.

Jeff Jarrett didn’t hold back on Hulk Hogan’s TNA legacy

Jarrett made the comments in Jeff Jarrett and the Battle for TNA – Part III, which looks at the history of the promotion he helped create. During the episode, he also criticized former TNA President Dixie Carter, saying her decision to give Hulk Hogan and Eric Bischoff major control in early 2010 changed the company for the worse.

Jarrett didn’t hold back when talking about Hogan’s impact.

“From the day Hulk came in, it was less than 12 months that we went from profitability to financial death spiral,” Jarrett said (H/T: Fightful Select).

Hulk Hogan signed with TNA in late 2009 and made his debut on the January 4, 2010 episode of TNA iMPACT!. He arrived alongside Eric Bischoff as part of a new direction that Dixie Carter hoped would help TNA compete with WWE.

Soon after, several big changes were made.

The company replaced its famous six-sided ring with a traditional four-sided ring, refreshed its TV product, changed its creative direction, and signed several well-known names from WWE and WCW.

One of the biggest moves was shifting Impact to Monday nights to go head-to-head with WWE RAW. The gamble didn’t pay off. After a few months, TNA moved the show back to Thursday nights.

Jarrett also blamed Dixie Carter for putting too much trust in Hogan and Bischoff while moving away from the original vision of TNA.
