Late WWE star Bray Wyatt nearly had another unique storyline. However, the idea never made it to television.
Wyatt was known for his creative wrestling characters. His Wyatt Family persona drew inspiration from cult leaders. One reported influence was infamous cult leader Charles Manson. Former WWE writer Nick Manfredini also claimed Manson once became a fan after watching Wyatt’s promos.
Speaking on The Sal Licata Show, Michael Cole reflected on working with Wyatt. He called him one of WWE’s most creative stars. Cole also revealed they spent years developing one special idea.
Michael Cole reveals Bray Wyatt’s scrapped WWE idea
“Bray and I did a lot of work together over the years. you know, Bray was awesome. I remember him as Husky Harris, back in his NXT days. He was one of the most creative people that we’ve ever had, in our company.”
Cole explained the concept was based on famous prison interviews with Charles Manson. The plan featured Cole interviewing Wyatt in a similar style. “One of the stories Bray and I had worked for a number of years on trying to do a sit-down interview where it would be like Michael Cole interviewing Charles Manson in prison.”
He said the entire concept was already planned out. For reasons unknown, WWE never moved forward with it. “We had even mapped it out, and the concept was ready to go, and for some reason it never happened. But I thought that would have really, especially if it was a multi-part interview series, I think that would have really helped Bray bring out that character even more.”
Cole ended by praising Wyatt’s incredible creativity and legacy. “Everything he did touched, everything he touched was gold just an incredible guy. A guy that is missed every single day by everybody in our company.”
