Brock Lesnar has always been seen as one of the toughest and most feared stars in pro wrestling. Over the years, many wrestlers have admitted they were intimidated by his presence and Billy Gunn is the latest one of them.
From winning an NCAA wrestling championship to becoming UFC Heavyweight Champion and dominating WWE, The Beast Incarnate has built a reputation that very few can match, and that reputation isn’t just for TV. According to the AEW veteran, even someone his size found Lesnar intimidating whenever they were in the same locker room.
Billy Gunn says Brock Lesnar has a different kind of presence
Billy Gunn has been in the wrestling business for more than 30 years and has shared the ring with some of the biggest names. At a billed 6-foot-5 and 270 pounds, Gunn is one of the most physically impressive veterans.
Over the years, he has worked with huge heavyweights, Olympic-level athletes, and real fighters. But when Denise Salcedo asked him which wrestler had intimidated him the most, his answer was Brock Lesnar.
“Probably Brock. Yeah, although he’s always been nothing but nice to me, and we’ve always had a great relationship, but like it’s just, I think it’s a mental thing he has. He doesn’t really have to do anything. It’s just you look at him, and you go, you know, he can actually eat me if he wanted to. And I’m like 6’5 270 and go hmmm. Like, you’ve got to think more than twice about that, so yeah, he has that aura, but he is such a nice guy. It’s kind of like me, I have kind of a really bad aura, but I’m really nice,” Gunn said.
During the interview, Denise Salcedo also mentioned Ken Shamrock, another former UFC star whom Gunn wrestled during his WWE career. Shamrock was one of the first MMA fighters to make a big impact in wrestling and was known for being incredibly tough.
Even so, Gunn felt Lesnar was more intimidating overall.
“Shamrock is just a crazy person. And he is when you know what he is, but it’s the look and the presence, and everything is just because Brock not only has the size, but he has the background to back it up,” Gunn said.
Lesnar’s career backs up that reputation.
