Richard Holliday could be WWE-bound in the near future.
According to Fightful Select, WWE has shown internal interest in signing Holliday, with one source indicating they expect the former MLW star to join the company.
“Regarding Richard Holliday, it should be noted that we can only confirm internal interest from the company. One source had indicated they expected him to be signed.”
The report notes that Holliday has been fueling speculation through his social media activity, leading many to believe an announcement could be on the horizon.
“He’s been playing it up on social media to an almost suspicious level.”
Richard Holliday Was Absent From Recent TNA Tapings In Boston
Fightful added that Holliday’s absence from the recent TNA television tapings in Boston caught the attention of several people within the promotion and prompted inquiries about his status.
“He wasn’t at the Boston TNA tapings, which surprised a number of people at TNA, leading to the inquiries. We do expect him to land in WWE.”
Holliday is no stranger to WWE’s radar. The former MLW standout has reportedly participated in two WWE tryouts in recent years, making the company’s continued interest less surprising.
The report also noted that WWE is planning to bring in a new referee in the near future, though no additional details were provided.
If Holliday does sign with WWE, it would mark the latest chapter in a career that has included a successful run in MLW and GCW, as well as an inspiring return to the ring following his battle with stage 4 Hodgkin’s lymphoma.
