WWE star Dragon Lee recently shared a surprising WrestleMania 42 story. Lee competed in his first-ever ladder match at WrestleMania 42. He challenged Penta for the WWE Intercontinental Championship alongside Je’Von Evans, Rey Mysterio, Rusev, and JD McDonagh. Penta successfully retained the title.
The luchador star admitted he thought the ladders would not be real. He quickly found out that was not the case.
Speaking on Insight with Chris Van Vliet, Lee admitted he had no ladder match experience before WrestleMania. “I’ve never wrestled in a ladder match. That was my first ladder match.” He then revealed what he expected before entering the ring.

“Honestly, I thought that the ladder would be a little bit kind of gimmicked.” However, Lee quickly realized how wrong he was. “I want everyone to know that the ladder was real, brother. Real.” He recalled picking up a ladder during the match.
“I just grabbed the ladder. Right away, I caught my arm, I hit my leg, and I was like, ‘It’s so heavy.'” Lee also admitted climbing a ladder inside the ring was much harder than expected. The WWE star also shared a funny story involving a real ladder accident at home.
Lee even reset his injured finger himself after the accident. He finished by joking that he should have installed Christmas lights from the top of the WrestleMania ladder instead.
