“Speedball” Mike Bailey had high praise for a fellow AEW star recently. Despite their bitter split, Bailey believes Kevin Knight has greatness ahead.
The former JetSpeed partners are now on opposite sides. However, Bailey still backed Knight after AEW Redemption ended. JetSpeed officially split following Knight attacked Darby Allin at Double or Nothing after turning heel for first time.
The following week, Kevin Knight also betrayed Mike Bailey and joined the Don Callis Family soon after. Knight then focused fully on his TNT Championship singles run. At AEW Redemption, Knight headlined his biggest match yet. He challenged Kenny Omega for the AEW World Championship. Although Knight lost the match, Bailey praised his former partner.

Speaking during the AEW Redemption post-show press conference, Bailey admitted he was proud seeing Knight headline the pay-per-view.
Speaking on AEW Redemption post show press conference, Mike Bailey said Bailey was still proud to see his former tag team partner headline AEW Redemption. “All week people were saying, ‘People are going to be excited to see you.’ I really didn’t expect it this much, nearly to the level it was, just as I came out and before I did anything. I really felt that.”
Bailey then praised Knight despite hearing fans chant his name. “Even throughout the night, it was wonderful. Even during the main event, I’m still very proud this was the main event on this show. Kevin getting the “Speedball is better” chant, which makes me very happy, but I don’t entirely believe that.”
Bailey said he always believed Knight had incredible potential. “I thought it when we were JetSpeed, Kevin is going to known as the greatest pro wrestler in the world. I’m hoping I’ll beat him then and it’ll be us playing catch-up.”
“We were such a great tag team. We were the best tag team in the world for the year we were together, and I mean that. It still means a lot to me to see him in the main event and taking on the best pro wrestler in history.” [H/T: Fightful]
Despite Knight’s defeat, Bailey enjoyed a successful night himself. He won the six-way ladder match at Redemption. That victory earned him an AEW International Title opportunity.
