Update On TNA World Title, Details On Tourney Brackets/Finals

It was announced by Eric Bischoff on this week’s TNA Impact broadcast on Spike TV that Rob Van Dam was forced to vacate the TNA world title due to injury. This finally set up the long rumored eight-man tournament which kicked off on this week’s show, and featured the top eight men in the official TNA rankings.

The semi-finals of the tournament to crown a new TNA world champion will be held at the company’s next pay-per view event, “No Surrender”, which is scheduled for September 5 at the Impact Zone in Orlando, Florida. The four men who the semi-final brackets will consist of are Kurt Angle, Jeff Hardy, Mr. Anderson and “The Pope” D’Angelo Dinero.

We now know that the semi-final matches will feature Kurt Angle vs. Jeff Hardy and Mr. Anderson vs. D’Angelo Dinero, with each winner moving on to the “Bound For Glory” pay-per view on October 10, where the finals will be held to crown the new TNA world champion.
